AQUA JOG
Improve your range of motion and experience a mild cardiovascular workout in the deep end of the pool (the shallow end is always and option). Buoyancy belts are provided for this no impact - joint friendly workout. Some swim skills required

AQUACISE
This low to mild intensity workout is designed for people with arthritis or other joint problems. This class will focus on joint range of motion, strengthening and flexibility. It is also a great class to socialize in.

AQUA FIT
Choose your own intensity level for a cardio and strengthening workout. Water barbells, noodles, and other equipment are provided as you exercise to music at either end of the pool. Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday classes include a little more socialization.

AQUACISE II
Take a step up from Aquacise, but work at your own intensity level. The class is set to music with less emphasis on socialization.

DEEP WATER FITNESS
Workout to music with our volunteer instructors with years of experience. Along with the cardiovascular benefits you'll also improve your flexibility and muscular endurance with no impact. Some swim skills required.

ADULT SWIM LESSONS
From a beginner swimmer to technique refinement. State your goals and an individualized program will be developed for you.

SCUBA DIVING
Offered twice a year by all volunteers interested in helping people learn the fun and safety of scuba diving. This 16 week course includes classroom lectures, in-pool skills, written tests and five open water check-out dives. The successful completion of the course results in an I.D.E.A (International Dive Educators Association) Certification. The instructors combine for over 90 years of experience led by Jeff LaBombard, who has over 21 years of dive experience.

Swim Lessons - [ VIEW SWIM LEVELS AND PREREQUISITES ]

The YMCA has been a leader in providing instructional swimming for more than 100 years. The aquatic program at the Plattsburgh YMCA is dedicated to doing more than simply teaching children or adults swimming skills.

Parent/Child Program (ages 6 mo. - 3 yrs)
We encourage parents to explore and experience the water with their children to help their child develop coordination, strength, fitness, and to just have fun! The SKIPPERS program is a water adjustment program that allows the child to become more comfortable in the water (with flotation device and eventually without).

Preschool Programs (ages 3 - 4 yrs)
For the 3 & 4 year olds, we have three programs called PIKE, EEL and STARFISH. These programs are for children who are ready to have instruction without the parent. The PIKE program is a beginner level class where water adjustment skills are taught, with emphasis on safety, fun and socialization. The EEL program will begin working on basic stroke technique, floating on back and front, and water safety. The STARFISH program is an advanced class for children who can swim the width of the pool in a streamlined position. Emphasis will be on kicking, breathing and crawl stroke.

Youth & Adult (ages 5 to adult)
The ratio of instructors to student is kept low to insure personalized teaching and a safe learning environment. There are six successive levels of achievement for youth from having no water exposure to advanced swimming abilities. The program teaches water safety, all competitive swim strokes, and elementary diving techniques. *Private lessons available for all ages and swim levels.

Pool rentals available for parties, groups etc.
