New Spinning/Fitness Room
Located on th e3rd floor, the new Spinning and Fitness room has over 1000 square feet of multi-use space to run quality programs. This air-conditioned area has new flooring, walls and ceiling that is quiet for classes like Yoga and Pilates. Four new bikes were also added to accommodate more participants in the popular spinning program. The renovation was another component of the "Why The Y" capital campaign to improve the Plattsburgh YMCA facilities. Check the schedules for complete listing of times for all fitness classes.

Cardiovascular Center
The Plattsburgh YMCA's new "Paul Titherington Cardiovascular Center" features state-of-the-art equipment by Precore® to include: 4 treadmills, three elliptical cross trainers, two steppers, and one bike. The center also has 5 other cardiovascular machines. The new machines have individual flat viewing screens integrated into the top panel with access to all 99 cable TV channels. Simply plug in your headphones and watch your favorite TV show while you workout! Time really does fly while your having fun. This new center was completed renovated with air conditioning, new lighting, and new flooring, fresh paint and all new electrical work to accommodate new machines with the integrated Cardiotheater®.

Machines can be reserved for 30 or 60 minutes.


Rock Climbing Wall
The Plattsburgh YMCA's new climbing wall is 21 feet high by 28 wide and can accommodate up to 6 climbers at one time. The lower section has a boulder traverse course to allow for horizontal climbing with three different levels of difficulty. The main wall has different color courses with varying difficulties. Specially designed mats are put in place to provide for a comfortable and safe climbing experience. The wall was developed and installed by the Everlast Climbing Wall Company. The climbing wall can be included in any birthday party. Trained instructors are always present when the wall is in use. The climbing wall can also be rented by groups or individuals of any age. Times are set aside in the gym just for climbing by members or guests called "Climb Time".

Nautilus 2ST® Fitness Center
We offer a complete circuit of top-of-the line Nautilus machines. Located in an air-conditioned room next to the free weight room also contains some cardiovascular machines to include two concept II rowers, two bikes, a stepper and a cross trainer. Instruction is required prior to use. Personal goals and special conditions to be considered (i.e.: past injuries, heart conditions etc.) are reviewed with you by the instructor during the orientation.

Up to Date Free Weight Room

Our complete free weight room includes: York crossover cable, Olympic incline, flat, and adjustable benches, preacher curl, complete set of dumbbells and rack, and new flooring with ever last colored rubber. The room contains a complete variety for the beginner to advanced lifter! Our air-conditioned room is adjacent to the Nautilus Fitness Center. Free weight instruction is also provided for all levels.

Racquetball Leagues

The YMCA offers racquetball leagues in the winter. Leagues are round robin format with various playing abilities. Players schedule games with other players, which helps you meet new players!

 

Adult Fitness Classes

Zumba
A Latin-inspired dance/fitness class. No dance experience required. Appropriate for all ages. Movement with Music equals FUN!

Spinning®
More than just a workout, Spinning® is the original indoor cycling program. Work at your own level during this non-impact workout. Call and reserve a bike for each class.

Morning Fitness
Choose your own intensity level for the cardiovascular portion, includes some floor work, body bars, hand weights, and resistive bands.

Pilates
Increase your core strength and improve your flexibility with this class. Appropriate for all ages and abilities. Available in AM & PM.

Yoga
Certified instructor will guide you through posture and poses focussing on relaxation and breathing. Appropriate for all levels.

Weight Resistance Class
Research has proven that resistance training improves bone density and produces leaner muscle mass, without bulking up. This is for any fitness level regardless of your age.

Massage Therapy

Massage therapy is a great treatment for sore muscles or stress. Massage Therapy is held on the third floor of the YMCA. Our Massage Therapist - Darlynn Bates RN, LMT - is fully certified and experienced. Gift certificates are also available.
